"Through his work, Muir attempts to embrace and capture human presence. His images dynamically explore identity, examining the paradoxes, flaws and fragilities of human character, distilling what is sometimes consciously unapparent. When creating photographs, Muir examines the foundations of people's make-up; their relationships, their emotions and their desires - his photography gazes at what makes us human.

With the introduction of digital manipulation to his photography, he is able to build layers and narratives, drawing out concepts, whilst adding potency to already vital images. However, the aim is not to provide an answer by this process; Muir lets his photographs retain an element of ambiguity, allowing the viewer the opportunity to retrieve something personal from the work."

Muir was born in Devon, where he studied photography at Exeter College, before moving to Sunderland to receive a BA first class honours degree in Photography, Video and Digital Imaging. He is now based in Exmouth, where he continues to create photographic work.
